20 Minutes is All I Need

Jonathan Malm - January 30, 2013

I want to tell you about a friend I’m fortunate to have in my life. He works for a pretty legit company called Clark. His name is Mark. He’s Mark from Clark.

I don’t get nearly enough time to chat with him. But on Monday night he happened to be in town – in my neighborhood. He only had about twenty minutes to sit down and chat, but he wanted to swing by my place and congratulate me on my new job with Echo. But in those twenty minutes, he revolutionized my mind.

He leveled me with ideas and concepts. Boggled my mind. I left the quick meeting with so many ideas. I went to bed one hour later than I was planning because I was writing them all down. I need that in my life. And so do you.

The only difference between where you are today, and where you’ll be a year from today, are the books you read and the people you meet.

Do you have folks who challenge you with ideas and concepts that make you stay up past your bed time?

Mark and I work on almost opposite ends of the coin in this “church world”. But he always challenges me to think differently. His unique perspective makes me reach further and try harder than I would on my own.

I want to encourage you to seek out folks who do that for you. Seek out people in different industries and different stages of life. Seek out folks who make you a bit uncomfortable with the ideas and concepts they talk about.

It will make all the difference.
