I’ve found a few surprising things about the education process. 1) School is not the best source for education. 2) The church is not the best source of education about God. 3) Online articles are not the best source of information.
Unfortunately, most people tend to rely on those three entities for the primary education in their lives. I believe, in order to live successfully, you should rely on these three educators.
1. Parents.
Your parents have a lot of life behind them. You might be surprised to know they’ve gone through most of the things you’ll experience in your life.
You can learn from them – their failures and their success. The thing is: You have to sit down and learn from them. You have to sit and ask questions. Listen. You might find out they’ll tell you things as an adult that they didn’t tell you when you were a kid. So often, though, we forget to ask about these things.
2. Self.
I’m not saying you should go all new-age and seek the truth within. I’m saying, you should do the hard work of research for yourself. Find books. Read the Bible. Find the truth for yourself and teach yourself.
We so often like to get information spoon-fed to us. Unfortunately, that type of information is often poisoned with others’ agenda. Don’t let that taint your education.
3. Failure.
Finally, the risks we take and the subsequent failures we experience will always be our best education. The problem is, many of us try to shield ourselves from failure. We think failure is a bad thing.
But I’m convinced failure is a good thing. The greatest minds on earth have failed countless times; that’s the only way they were able to develop their knowledge to the point of success. Don’t fear failure. Embrace it.
Let these three educators be your most important. I guarantee you’ll like what you learn from them.
