I’m a fan of the Meyers Briggs personality tests. I’m an ENTP if you’re curious. I love how the descriptions of the sixteen different personality types actually describe me. It’s like they know me.
However, I know that’s not all there is to me. There are things that I have that make me unique from anyone else on the earth. And discovering those things can help give me a vision for my life—for making an impact on others. I believe there are a few fundamental things that make you unique from anyone else on the earth. Let’s explore.
1. Your Strengths
There are rules you’re the exception to. I’ve blogged about this before. But there are things you can get away with that nobody else can.
2. Your Weaknesses
Believe it or not, your weaknesses are an asset. They help you know what you need to stay away from. They’re a limitation in your life that helps get you on the write path. Don’t be afraid of weakness.
3. Your Background
I don’t know of many people who have been attacked by four monkeys and fallen into raw open sewage—while living in a third world country engaged in a brutal civil war. That’s part of my background that makes me who I am. Discover your background to discover what makes you unique.
4. Your Limitations
Your wallet, your location on earth, your looks, your height… Those are all potential limitations. Limitations of course tell you things you should avoid. But it’s also an opportunity for creative thought that will lead to more opportunities. Remember the story of Gideon? His 300 warriors brought down an army without any casualties, instead of using thousands in hand-to-hand combat.
5. Who You Attract
There are people who want to be around you. That’s because of things you have no control over. (Unless you draw losers, then it’s probably something you need to change about your personality.) But this also makes you unique.
So add those factors up. It makes you unique. It makes you you. You’re more than just an ENTP, at least I am.
Thank you! This and your linked article are so encouraging and challenging. I am constantly mourning my weaknesses and limitations as liabilities, when clearly God has allowed them and would like to use them to make something beautiful.
Appreciate your thoughts 🙂
Embrace those weaknesses! 🙂
