Be-Risky

Be Risky

At six, my family moved to a country engaged in a fierce civil war. There were not only guerrillas bombings around the country, but Guatemala had the worst human rights violations in the world. In my six years there, I survived multiple monkey attacks, drive-by shootings outside our house and countless other predicaments. What an adventure!

As artists, we are storytellers. Whether through ink, melody, words or paint, we tell a story to our audience. Do you have stories worth telling?

Have you noticed the most engaging creators have crazy stories? We can’t get enough of their narratives of adventures in jungles and encounters with shady characters. They’re incredible and exciting.

Why do they have such great stories? They take risks! They do things most of us wouldn’t try. They climb mountains, talk to weird people on planes and try exotic foods. They seize every experience in life and live!

Do you take risks? Do you try new things? If your life story seems boring, start living! Take risks. Do something crazy. “Do one thing every day that scares you.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

    Good post.

Seems God wants us to take risk since He knows the outcome of every decision we make be but He doesn’t tell us. Instead He leaves us to walk by faith which means: Listen, give it our best shot at hearing what He is saying, obey what we think we heard and leave the outcome to Him with no guarantees of “success”.

If there is no risk then no faith is involved either. So, I am with you, go for it!

    • I was talking to someone about that the other day. He wasn't sure if he was really hearing God saying what he thought…I told him to go for it anyways…I think God honors obedience even when we hear wrong. :)

That graphic you made is rad. I’m gonna steal it!

I agree we need to live and and be willing to step out of our comfort zones…that's where we find some of the best stories. Risks bring growth that would never have happened if we didn't choose to step across that line. Nice post.
