Befriend-Someone-Scary

Befriend Someone Scary

This is a real conversation I had.

Guy: My friend Foodstamp can hook you up with a cell phone for $20, one time fee. You just can only make calls, you can’t receive them.”
Me: Um, that sounds illegal.
Guy: No way. Not if you don’t get caught.

Later that day.

Guy: I once made a tattoo gun out of a toothbrush and paper clip.
Me: Ya?
Guy: Ya, this 12 year old kid asked me to give him a tattoo.
Me: Are you serious?!
Guy: I didn’t want to get in trouble. So I only charged him $20.

I don’t remember how I met this guy, but he scared me.

Are you feeling a creative block? Meet someone like this. They will scare you out of your comfort zone. They will loose you from your creative funk.

Plus, they can hook you up with a really cheap cell phone!

So go downtown. Find someone who looks like they have story. Befriend them. Buy them a cup of coffee and listen.

Note: If you need inspiration to do this, watch the Soloist. A reporter befriends a homeless cellist who used to attend Juilliard.

There is one black lady downtown. Not only is she scary, but she will attack you. Stay away. Otherwise all the hobos are pretty mellow. I’ve talked to many of them. Have fun!

Thanks alot to the guys who cleaned up downtown San Antonio and shipped em to CC. (Not that it matters, but they were Jewish,……..hehe)

  • That’s challenging.

Sometimes it just means befriending someone you’re afraid to talk to. Hopefully that makes this a bit more accessible. :)

Good call, sometimes those can spark the most interesting conversations. A lot of people would love someone to talk to, they just aren’t sure how to initiate and they’re just waiting for someone to talk to them. You could be the one to brighten their day in the process.

Just don’t try to call them to set up a 2nd meeting – they can only make calls, they can’t receive them.
