We’ve talked before about the importance of purpose in your creativity. Without purpose, creativity becomes trite. We create just to fill time and space. We add to the pile of pretty things–pretty and useless things. That’s why we need to create out of need.
What do you need in your life? What do people around you need? What does the world need? Meet those needs with your creativity.
It may require a little bit of research. It may require visiting another side of town. It may require a bit of introspection. Find the need.
- TOMS found the need of impoverished children without shoes.
- Riplaces found the need for shoes that don’t come untied while skating.
- Church Stage Design Ideas (my site) found the need for staging inspiration for church workers.
