Creatives are notorious for taking themselves too seriously. I admit. I do. But sometimes I get bored with taking myself seriously. It takes a lot of effort–coming up with ideas that you’re willing to defend with blood, sweat and handguns.
Sometimes I get so protective of my own ideas that they never even see the light of day. I become a mother eagle and my ideas are my babies. I sit on them far longer than I need to and they never fly. If I wait long enough I’m soon sitting on a pile of dead, rotting ideas.
We need to release our ideas and let them fly. “The idea isn’t perfect enough,” you say. That’s ok. Sure, you’ll experience some of your ideas tumbling to the ground–meeting a messy death. But we need to be willing to take the risk.
Are you willing to risk a few “creative deaths” to create something that will soar?
Just the first line made me smile. It’s so true! Jesus help me to let go…
let the birdies fly 🙂
