In our last few days in Argentina, my wife and I went on a tour of Buenos Aires. It turns out…we aren’t bus tour people. We’re walking people. We got pretty bored after the first thirty minutes. It was a three hour tour (minus the fun of Gilligan).
We had two options…complain or make the best of it. We made the best of it. I whipped out my iPhone and played the Wifi finding game. Each stop I tried to find a signal, connect, and check my Facebook before we moved again. It was a blast! And when we were moving, there were low hanging branches to dodge (refer to the above video).
Three hours of yawn turned into three hours of fun.
There’s huge value in the concept of play.
Children play. They turn everything into a game. Children are extremely creative.
When was the last time you turned a boring situation into a game? When you start seeing life as a series of games, you open your mind up to a new world. You start creating fun in a world of boring.
Next time you’re on a three hour tour…don’t complain. Have a little fun. Dodge some branches and find some Wifi.
