Remember: A stingy planter gets a stingy crop; a lavish planter gets a lavish crop. I want each of you to take plenty of time to think it over, and make up your own mind what you will give. That will protect you against sob stories and arm-twisting. God loves it when the giver delights in the giving. 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 (MSG)
We often read this verse and assume it’s all about giving financially. And ya, it’s all about that. But there’s a bigger truth buried in this verse. It’s the principle of sowing and reaping. And that principle applies to much more than just money. It applies to generosity in every area of our lives.
What do you want out of life? Love? Respect? Friendship? You need to give that out in a greater measure than you have. You have to love others more than they love you. Respect, friendship, same deal. It’ll all come back to you in a tsunami. But you have to give big to receive big. You want big love? Give big love. You want big respect? Give big respect. You want big friendships? Be a big friend.
I think so many people sit back and look at their lives and wonder why they’re missing out on some things they envy in others’ lives. This is it. This principle. You have to give it to get it.
What about this: You want your very best ideas and best creativity? Why not give people your best. What if you bent over backwards and gave some brilliant ideas to a friend. Instead of consuming all your creativity on yourself, give it away. It will come back to you even bigger than before.
Don’t believe me? Fine, I’ll reap all the creativity. Your loss.
I think we often forget that a helping hand goes much farther than money. Great post man!
