There’s one thing that most frequently ruins my day. It’s checking my email first thing in the morning.
I know I shouldn’t do it. But to me, my inbox is a bucket full of possibilities. I get so excited with each new “ding”…hoping for great new horizons to unfold before me.
Unfortunately, when I get bad news in email form, it’ll ruin my day. While good news wakes me up and puts a pep in my step, bad news wrecks the whole day. An advertiser isn’t renewing, someone had to bail on a commitment, an emergency arises… There are so many things that aren’t big deals…but still ruin my day.
That’s why I’m trying something this week. I’m avoiding my email first thing in the morning. I’m going to only ingest good news. It’s an experiment. And it’ll take every ounce of self control to keep from jumping on my computer first thing in the morning.
But I vow to only look at my email once I’m fully awake and peppy. Breakfast. Coffee. Shower. Prayer Morning commute with my audiobooks. Second cup of coffee and chatting with my lovable co-workers. Then email.
I’m not sure I’ll be able to stand it…but something has to be done about one lousy email wrecking my whole day.
Want to join me on the experiment?
Yes, I want to join you in this crazy experiment.
