There are jobs in this world that you can’t even fathom existing. My job is somewhat like that. My dad can’t quite figure out how I make money doing what I do.
And now I’m getting into something even more unique. I’m not entirely sure what I’m trying to do is possible. The concept is this: I’m writing posts I know will be fun and easily shareable. Then I ask a company to sponsor that post, and use half of their sponsorship dollars to advertise the post they sponsored. So I am able to publicize my site on the advertiser’s dime, and still make money doing it. That’s on top of my current advertisers.
I can’t quite fathom this working. But just because I can’t see it working doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.
I don’t quite understand it working, that’s why I’m scared of it. But I fully believe it’s possible, so I’m pursuing it. I’m searching for ways to make it happen and experimenting with it.
Some people don’t get it. Most of the companies I approach don’t get it. But there are some who do. There are some who are even excited about the idea.
People are afraid of things they can’t fathom. But that doesn’t mean you should stay away from them. If you have a vision for something, you need to go after it—even if other people just can’t understand.
My whole job is this concept. And there are thousands of amazing things out there that we can’t even fathom yet. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t pursue them.
The world is so much bigger than what we perceive is possible.
