Are you stuck on your creative project? All you need is a bit of Creative Draino to get those creative juices flowing again. Today’s bit of Creative Draino is all about limitations.
Start by imagining a world with no limitations. What would your project look like with an infinite budget? Infinite manpower? Infinite time? “That’s great,” you say. “But how does that possibly help me? I live in a world filled with limitations.” Exactly!
Now let’s get back to the real world. However, let’s double the limitations you have. Cut your budget, manpower, and time-frame in half. Sit down and work through the idea that was formed when you had no limitations. How could you make it work under the new set of rules? What could you scale back that is unnecessary in order to make it a reality.
This exercise will show you what’s important to your project. It will give you perspective and an appreciation for what you do have.
Finally, though, it will stretch your brain. Sometimes we learn more through the limitations we’re experiencing than through the opportunities that present themselves.
That’s an awesome way of thinking and presenting an amazing project! LOVE IT!
I also have to share here, that I’m super excited! My pastor has recently asked me to jump on board our creative ministry team to help them and out and get it moving forward! I finally feel like I’m jumping on the right board! So thanks for all your advice and wisdom, Jonathan!
That’s awesome, Justin! Congrats! 🙂
