It’s pretty safe to say my world revolves around Apple products. Jesus is my savior, but Apple is my religion. There’s something so intriguing about the simplicity of their products.
The first time I picked up an iPhone I didn’t know what to do with it. There was only one visible button. “Could operating this product be as simple as pushing this button?” It really was.
While other phone and computer manufacturers were jamming each product with new features and buttons, Apple chose to remove. That’s part of their process. They want to remove everything that isn’t necessary.
In a world full of information and options, they choose to make it simple. They’ve even made some of their loyal users angry because of this. Apple is notorious for removing features that people are in love with—all for the sake of removing to improve.
But their market share keeps growing.
Are you in the habit of removing everything that isn’t necessary? Or have you fallen into the trap of stuffing your projects with features and unnecessary extras? Remove to improve.
Does this apply to Final Cut Pro X?
Haha. I know people are hating on that all the time…but I believe so. They made that program more accessible to a new group of people. 🙂
Yeah, and totally left the important people in the ditch! I don’t know about you, but I’d rather cater to the editors who are editing multi-million dollar projects, rather than those who have a $200 camera from Wal-Mart…
But that’s just me. I’m an Adobe guy when it comes to videos anyway, so I don’t care.
I love Apple because of their packaging. It’s simply brilliant!
Haha. Ya…the philosophy they used when they made that bad call was a good philosophy…not sure it was a great idea…but you can’t argue with their success using that philosophy…
This is true. And I’m glad they can own up to their mistakes, such as the refunds they gave.
I think one of the reasons why everyone was so mad is because of another aspect of their business. They keep everything so closed. We’ve heard rumors about certain features of the iPhone 5, but nothing that can be verified yet. It’s amazing at how good they are at keeping things under wraps! Maybe if they had released something that stated FCPX was going to be geared towards advance iMovie users, there wouldn’t have been as big of a fallout.
It’s a great aspect though, because it builds tons of suspense, and it shows in the sales.
For real. I got ants in my body waiting for the 5 to come out tomorrow.

I started using macs about 10 years ago. Before that time I spent half of my time working with PCs and the other half fixing them. The stability and ease of use of Apple’s OSs is what really counts to me. What other company has created technology that I can use as a digital artist and worshipVJ, to make amazing images that render at blazing speeds and seemlessly and smoothly display projected media, while simultaneously create a technology that is so simple and unintimidating that my grandmother can learn to use, master and enjoy it? Apple.
Ya. I love Apple. I’m ever expanding my “orchard” of Apple products.
