The New Gig

On Friday I announced a new chapter in my life. I didn’t tell you what it was, I just told you it was happening. Well, today I can finally let you know what the hoopla’s all about.

Today, I hopped in my car and drove 10 miles north to my new workspace. I got a brief introduction to the job, was shown my office, and I got to work. All day I’ve been sifting through financial reports, binders of notes, and organizing the office. I’ve been getting to know the team of talented folks I’ll be working beside. Overwhelming? Perhaps. Exciting? Most definitely.

About two weeks ago I was approached with the prospect of working with Echo Conference (an annual church conference for artists, geeks, and storytellers). You have no idea how immediately that excited me. I’ve been a huge fan of the conference and everything RT Creative Group (the parent company) puts out. So two weeks later, here we are. And here I am in my new role as Echo Director. (Check out the announcement here.)

I don’t think that Rob, Jeff, or I anticipated this all to happen so quickly. But our visions and passions lined up so clearly that it was a natural progression (plus it helps I didn’t have a day job to slow the discussion down).

So here I am in my new office, filling the shoes of a man I greatly respect. I’ll truly be standing on the shoulders of a giant (Scott McClellan is definitely a tall and amazing man). I’m excited.

And I’m even more excited to tell you that CSDI and Sunday| Magazine will keep continuing strong. I know getting to work on all these projects with this team will take each project far further than I could have previously.

I’ll keep giving you details as they come to me. But I hope to see you at Echo this year. It should be loads of fun.
