I’m watching 100 children sitting in seats. The room is eerily quiet. It’s been 30 minutes and they’re just sitting there. Are they dead?
No. They’re listening to a story.
There’s something about a well-woven story that can keep the most ADD riddled kid still. It can keep them on the edge of their seat.
Guess what. It’s not just children that are affected by the power of the story. Even adults are children at the mercy of a good story.
Do you tell a good story in your creativity? Do you have compelling characters? Does the story ebb and flow, reaching a gigantic climax? Does your creativity offer a satisfying ending?
Embrace the power of the story in your works. Take people on a journey and you will have them glued to their seats.
Very true – story is one of the best mediums we have to communicate truth, but is a very underrated one. I love teaching my students this concept and then turning them loose to write their own!
that was my favorite thing in school..writing stories. 🙂
oh…and making up stories (lies) to tell me friends…haha
