Everybody wants to be great. But how do you even do that? Is there an “instant mix”? A fast track? Yep. And this is how:
Identify people with the potential for greatness, and help them achieve it.
We all hear about the Steve Jobses, the Mark Zuckerbergs, etc. We hear of their achievements and see them as great. But they didn’t get there by themselves. There were others that came alongside them…helping them get where they are…and they share in their greatness.
This is how I’m approaching greatness. I’m identifying friends and acquaintances I think have the potential for greatness. Then I see how I can fit into their mix. How can I help them get where they need to go? Sometimes I’m the only one with a vision of greatness for them. So I try to show it to them. I try to help them see it too.
And I’ll get to share in their greatness. Cool.
Not everyone wants or needs my help. I offer. If they don’t want it, no sweat. But some people are eager for someone to walk the road with them. I’ll gladly do that.
I don’t do it just so I’ll become great. I do it to become a part of greatness. That’s the adrenaline fix I’m going for. It’s a fun ride.
So who do you have in your life that’s destined for greatness? Who has the potential to do amazing things? Go ahead, identify them.
Now figure out what you can offer to them. How can you help catapult them to greatness? I guarantee they won’t forget you when they’re soaring through the air. And they might just bring you along for the ride.
But even if they don’t, you can look and see you were a part of inspiring greatness. That’s worth all the effort.
This is an interesting point here. I see this responsibility and opportunity in front of me all the time when it comes to teaching and encouraging youth as I serve at my church.
