I woke up this morning to two “no’s” in my email. They were from who were either unable to help me or didn’t want to help me. I got very discouraged and I dreaded the day. I was bummed. Finally, I shook myself out of it.
No’s can be very discouraging. Even the possibility of a “no” keeps many of us from even asking. We don’t want to risk the rejection.
But we need the help of others to succeed. It isn’t worth trying things on your own. Plus, I’ve been realizing there is power in the word, “no”. The biggest power in the word is this: every “no” means an opportunity for creativity.
When I got my two “no’s” and after I shook myself from my funk, I got creative. I approached different folks and I even modified my request. The end result will probably be better because the “no” forced my creativity.
You can’t let no (or the risk of no) keep you from asking. If you have a big vision it will take big co-operation. You have to bring people along. The cool thing about “no”, though, is that people usually do want to help. A “no” is not always a forever “no”. Just because someone can’t help you now doesn’t mean you need to give up on them. Give them some time. Rework your request. Find out what they can do and work with that.
Far too many individuals miss out on their potential because they’re afraid of this two letter word. We can’t be crippled by the fear of “no”. You have to push through that and do something that matters – with the help of great people you bring on your team.

yeah, I am finding out that no is no big deal.
It is a numbers game. Not every seed will bear fruit.
But plant a lot and you will get some fruit. Ask ask and ask some more. is what I am learning.
Great post. Thank you!
