There-Are-Enough-Ideas

There Are Enough Ideas

There are enough ideas to go around. I was afraid when I began this blog. I had about 20 blog posts in mind. I knew I would run out of material. So I paced myself and I held back. I knew I could stretch my 20 blog posts out to 60 if I was careful with my ideas.

Then something happened. I reached the end of my 20 ideas…and I found I had 10 more. Once I used those up, I had another 10.

Creativity is not a fossil fuel. It’s renewable. You won’t suddenly run out unless you stop tapping into the inspiration that’s around you. Creativity is all around you. It’s light, it’s wind, it’s water (earth, fire and Captain Planet).

So don’t hold back your best. Don’t “pace” your ideas. Don’t hoard them. Release them to the world. Make room for the new. And there will be new ideas. There are enough ideas to go around.

And there will be plenty of ideas you come up with that have already been thought of. You have to learn be okay with that.

Man…I am sooo bad at this. I’ll have an idea or concept I want to run with, but instead of powering through and making one great piece, I take bits and pieces out of it to make my other projects go farther. Like I’ll never have a good idea again. It’s completely illogical, but it’s just that fear thing… I’m such a sucker!

You forgot “heart” ;) I do have to say that up to this point I haven’t had to worry about this issue, but I am going to plant this thought in my head because I know some day I’m sure this fear will definitely want to attack!

  • Jonathan,

You are a Creative Genius! Hit this one right I on the head. I am super guilty of this too.

I think every individual working in a creative field is guilty of this. We fear if the faucet runs dry we don’t have a job any more. :)
