I’ll let you in on a little secret. This blog right here is the least successful thing I do. Supposedly, I have 400 readers. (Though that number is suspect.)
But these blog posts probably take the most amount of time to write. I write three each week, and don’t really make any money from these things. (See those empty ad spots to the right?)
So in essence, this blog is a waste of my time. But I keep writing it. Why?
It’s the reason I think everyone should blog. It forces me to learn. It forces me to analyze what I do and look for lessons and truths to share. It keeps me from just auto-piloting my way through my day. I have to revolutionize the way I do things because I have to have things to share with my readers.
So even though this blog sucks up a bunch of time and energy, I’m going to keep writing. It’s not really about you, the reader (my apologies). It’s about me learning enough to share with you.
I’m becoming a better writer. I’m becoming better at introspection. And I’m getting better at my job.
The teacher always learns more than the student. And I’m learning from my wasted time. How’s that for confusing?
I read this every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Keep up the good work Jonathan!
