God created all and sustains us all. So in a sense, we can’t do anything without Him. The Bible says as much. But if I were honest, most of the things I do in my everyday life don’t require close reliance on God. These three things, in fact.
1. When things are going well.
When things are going well, it’s easy for me to forget about God. Things are on autopilot. And I can easily just focus on myself.
2. When I can do it on my own.
When things are well within my control, I don’t need God. Again, I need God, but I just don’t acknowledge my need for him. So I act within my own power and do everything my own way.
3. When I don’t do anything big.
When I’m watching TV or just living life from a mediocre place, I don’t need God, because there’s nothing I can’t accomplish on my own. It doesn’t take God’s creative strength to scroll through the DVR.
I believe the solution to all of these things is to do big things. Risk the glorious. Do things that scare you so you can’t function without God.
That’s what I’m trying to do. It’s scary, but it helps my rely on God’s creativity.
What can you do to start relying on God’s creativity instead of your own? What changes can you make?
