Whenever I hang out with new people, it’s not long before I start explaining ways that I work the system. To be honest, I’ve done it all my life. But one of my favorite ways to do it is with credit cards. I’ve booked a whole lot of free travel lately…all because of working the system of credit cards.
And one of the responses I frequently get from new people I meet is…I listen to Dave Ramsey so I don’t use credit cards.
I get why Dave Ramsey is against the things. They get a lot of people into trouble. But that’s the precise reason I can work the system: because the majority of the people misuse them.
You see; “the system” is in place because people generally lack self control or because they aren’t willing to put effort in. Capitalism works because people often won’t work unless it allows them to eat. If you feed everyone, the vast majority of people will do the least possible in order to skate by. The whole capitalistic system is in place because people are generally lazy. (Sorry to be bleak, but follow me.)
Credit cards add all these perks like miles and cash back, because they entice people to use less self control and get further into debt. Yes, the system is screwed up. But because I’m self-controlled, I can take advantage of this and use it to my benefit.
You can work the system because most people are slaves to the system. As long as you’re willing to work hard and be disciplined, you don’t have to fear the system. You can work around it.
You don’t have to fear credit cards. You don’t have to fear competition or capitalism. Instead, use them to your benefit.
