This quote hit me so hard today.
“Millions long for immortality who don’t know what to do with themselves on a rainy Sunday afternoon.” – Susan Ertz
So many of wish for more time in our day. We wish we didn’t have to eat or sleep so we could get more work done. But then a perfect opportunity for productivity comes along and we plop down in front of the TV. We watch a game, a show marathon, or some trashy reality show.
Most of us, if bit by a vampire and turned immortal, would probably do the same thing we currently do. We’d do the minimum amount of work necessary to live, and entertain ourselves the rest of the time. We wouldn’t take advantage of our extra hours.
Money is everywhere. It’s not that hard to get. But time is a fixed commodity. We can’t get more of it. Once we run out, that’s it. Life’s done.
I’m not saying you shouldn’t watch a little TV or some movies. I’m not saying you should stress out about strangling every bit of life out of every second. But do you have a passion burning in your heart that you’d tackle if you found the time?
If not, get one.
Then, don’t wait to start working on it. Look for five extra minutes in each day and get moving. Follow that dream in the moments you have.
You might find out those football games and show marathons aren’t as exciting as you once did. You might find yourself waking up early to get started on your passion. You might find you have a passion worthy of immortality.
