One of the biggest myths I’ve seen perpetrated in people’s heart is this: The things that break my heart break yours. Now, I’m not talking about genocide or poverty. Those things should affect all of us. I’m talking about a passion unique to you. I’m talking about your unique voice.
It’s easy to think everyone feels the same way you do. You see an injustice or problem and assume everyone else sees it. You expect someone else to act upon that injustice or problem. Then you get upset that nobody has done anything yet.
But it’s no wonder. The person who saw it—you—did nothing about it, because they were waiting for someone else to do something. If anyone else saw it—if—they’re waiting too. Don’t look for someone else to speak into a situation that breaks your heart. You must speak.
This is one of the byproducts of believing your voice doesn’t matter. When we believe we don’t have a unique gift given to use by God for our generation, we assume others will fulfill our purposes. We believe others will step in and accomplish the things God has intentionally created us to do.
Your voice matters. It’s not about fame. It’s not about platform. It’s about fulfilling God’s purpose for you in your generation.
It’s important to note: your true voice is probably not going to look like ranting and raving on social media. Complaining about injustice is not the same as acting on it. Criticism is easy. But a voice that matters to this world will either manifest itself in action or in rallying a group to change the world together.
Don’t let your voice join the din of complainers. Do something with your voice. Make a change in this world.
