We live in a hopeless world. People are faced with problems and they can often only see one or two options in the middle of their chaos. Either fight or flight.
But one of the coolest things about Christianity is that we are able to find hope in all situations. We know that there’s more to the situation than just what we see. We know there might be a third or even fourth option—and our God already has the solution in His mind.
That’s why I believe every Christian should be creative. Creativity looks for that third or fourth option when it appears there are only two options. Creativity is filled with hope, knowing there’s more to this world than just what we see.
And when we can display that hope to the world, we are different. It’s the same reason we don’t grieve the same when a loved one dies. We grieve, but we grieve as those with hope. Because we know that even though it looks like we’ve lost our loved one forever, there’s more than we can see.
Creativity for the believer isn’t about making art. It isn’t about making beauty. Creativity for the believer is about hope. We have confidence that there’s something greater than we can see.
We see countless times in the Bible that our creative God has a creative solution to every situation we face. Our greatest obstacle was the problem of sin. We either obey the law, or we die. There appeared to be no other option.
But Jesus came and fulfilled the law. He became sin for us so we no longer had to suffer the consequences of our shortcomings. It was a third option when there appeared to be only two.
I want to encourage you—in your everyday life—look to your problems with hope. Know there’s more out there than just what you see. Let creativity spur you to hope.
