In the last few weeks I’ve started two new projects (see below). I’m refining three other projects and working with a publisher to print my devotional for creative people. Yet I find myself knocking out my to do list by noon.
I eat lunch, watch a show or two, then feel guilty that I have a bunch of extra time on my hands—for pretty much the rest of the day. Perhaps it’s the grace of God. My wife just quit physical therapy school and now I’m able to be with her. It’s great being available to talk through things with her and be spontaneous.
But I can’t get over the nagging feeling that I should be doing more…
While I feel like this is the laziest season of my life, I realize it’s actually one of the most productive. I’m getting my work done at noon because I’m highly motivated. My brain’s buzzing with new ideas and I’m excited to make them happen.
It’s a highly productive season of my life. And I don’t want to lose that. I don’t want to grow satisfied with the amount of good work I’m producing. I want to keep starting new projects and making my current projects better.
That’s what I love to do and I never want to lose that.
But I’m also not going to fill my time needlessly with “good stuff”. I don’t need new projects that don’t spark a passion in my soul. I don’t need to be more busy.
So while I feel incredibly lazy at the moment, I’m sticking with my schedule. I’m not sure if there’s anything you can learn from my experience…you might not relate at all. But my blog is an exercise in honesty. So I’m just being honest.
New projects:
- Mopho.to – photos for blogger and social media mavens (cover photo)
- A weekly blogging ideas email for bloggers and wanna-be bloggers

I can relate. My ledger for my work to-do’s is almost complete. I have about half a page left in it’s many pages. I bet I can fill that up and cross things off by the end of the day tomorrow. Love your honesty. It helps me.
thanks man! i’m glad 🙂
I know exactly what you mean. I have been mega busy for the last 4 months and now I have decided to not start anything new until my current projects are done and even though I have more extra time than I did, I know I am getting a lot done.
Most importantly, I know I am not fearing the idea that I will burn out, which I almost or pretty much did.
Your project for Mopho.to seems very cool. I looked around at it a bit, but felt like there wasn’t much when I searched. If a blogger needs images 3-5 times a week and may use more than one in a post, they might use up all your material pretty quick. Let me know if you are looking for help in the future to expand your library. I would love to submit any of my work.

Hey man! Good feedback. I’m working hard to upload at least 50 photos each month. So ya…our offerings are meager now. But you gotta start somewhere. I’ll email you to see if we can work something out with your photos. 🙂
