Styles change. Passions don’t.
Unfortunately, most people have passion for styles. Musicians are married to their genre. Technically-minded people are married to their technology. So when styles change, they find themselves outdated and unable to cope. Then when they can’t keep up, their passion dies. And that’s when they lose out.
We can’t be married to styles. No matter how hip and edgy you are, the style you ascribe to currently will pass away. Your design technique, your writing technique, your technology…it will all pass away. You can’t be married to your style.
That’s why it’s important your passion is about everlasting things. Is your passion about people? Is your passion about impacting culture with art? Is your passion about love?
Those things don’t change. And when styles change, you can change with them because your passion is still strong. Your passion doesn’t go away, and you’re willing to change with the tides.
What’s your passion? Is it attached to a style or are you able to change?

This is so great! Thanks for sharing! I feel like I need to put this on a poster!
