If you missed it, I’m trying my hand at food blogging. It seemed like a natural extension since I cook every evening. And food blogging is still a fairly untouched niche with a lot of traffic options.
It’s funny, though. I’m learning that food blogging (at least in the beginning) has very little to do with the recipe or the quality of the food. It’s really all about the photography and the marketing you do. It’s the packaging, if you will.
I’ve been realizing so many things are like that. The thing that really matters is rarely the actual product, or the actual point of what you’re doing.
Recording a great album is less about the musicianship, and more about catchy melodies and good marketing. Writing a book is less about your thoughts, and more about writing to an audience and finding a way to reach them. And all of my blogs are less about the content and more about writing catchy titles.
The success of your dream is about more than just what’s visible.
Unfortunately, many people fail to recognize what it takes to achieve their dream. They’re convinced the way to success is one particular road—the most obvious road. But the real road to success is often quite different. And it’s your ability to adapt to the new road that determines whether or not you’ll see success.
Are you willing to adapt? Are you willing to believe your dream is about more than just what’s visible to the naked eye?
Adaptation for me means learning as much as I can about display and photographing food. That’s what I need to work on.
What do you need to work on to adapt—to achieve your goal?
