The conference I previously worked for, Echo, announced recently that last year was their last one. (at least for now) I’m not going to lie. I was immediately tempted to start my own conference similar to Echo. I even got some folks approaching me to start one. I have loads of people behind me if I want to start one.
I could probably do it. I even started sketching it out.
But I’ve decided I’m not going to start my own Echo Conference. And I don’t think anyone else should either.
Echo was a phenomenal conference. And it bore the finger print of RT Creative Group—Rob, Jeff, Jenni, the rest of the team, plus Scott McClellan and me. It was a unique conference because it was full of unique people.
I can’t recapture that and it would frustrate me to no end to try. You can’t find another Jenni Wright. You can’t find another Rob Thomas. They’re one in a million. So I’m not even going to try.
I do, however, have my own idea. It looks nothing like Echo but completely satisfies everything I miss from being part of the conference. With the help of a friend and my brother, I had the idea on Monday. I’m not sharing the details for a few weeks as I research and pray about it. But I’ll be exited to let you in on the idea whether I decide to move forward with it or not.
But avoid the trap of mimicking success. Even if you could, you’ll always feel behind the curve. Instead, identify your passion and find your own unique expression. Be awesome and be younique.

If you need outside ideas I’d love to be involved at any level tht would be helpful to you. Just let me know.
Regardless of your decision to move forward with it or not, I’m so glad to see the spirit of Echo living on even in the absence of the physical presence of it. The community of Echo is the most unique and wonderful thing I’ve seen.
I can definitely see you holding a conference. Needless to say, nothing “Echo-ish” but still, something of a creative conference of awesomeness!
As long as there is coffee…I’m there.
