I saw the most hilarious joke the other day on Twitter:
Roses are #ff0000
Violets are #0000ff
Unfortunately, if you aren’t involved in web coding or other computer-based graphic design…you didn’t get that one. Those codes are hexadecimal codes for red and blue. While I literally laughed out loud at this joke, I told this doozie to my wife and I swear I heard crickets.
The whole point of this is about your audience. Good ideas only seem like good ideas to the right audience.
So next time your ideas are met with cricket chatter, don’t feel discouraged so easily. You might just be presenting it to the wrong audience. It’s sometimes surprising which audiences will embrace your creativity. Sometimes it even requires a bit of perseverance and elbow-grease to get your creativity in front of the right people.
This site is actually an experiment in finding the right audience for me. I have very little idea who will respond to this site. So…while you’re here, why don’t you tell me a little something about the creativity you’re involved in and if this site speaks to you.

I’ve just started working back through your archives…
I’ve been following the new content for a couple of months now…
I’m liking your blog more and more… I completely related to an earlier post about where your ideas typically hit you… shower, bed, mowing the lawn… I did a double-take, if someone would have asked me, I’d have given the same exact answer.
I like that you post often… many blogs I forget about due to inactivity.
Anyway, on to the reply to this post, I’m a technical art director based out of Billings, MT.
I’ve been here for three going on four years…
I find the creative drano tips to be what I like the most…
When I’m stuck, these help to get the juices flowing again…
One tip that works for me…
If I’m uninspired for a particular ministry design… I get involved with that ministry for a short time… or at least observe what they are doing and why they are doing it…
I find that I get the best ideas when I catch their passion.
Thanks for the great resource! Keep it up!
Great creative tip! Mind if I post that up next week with a credit to you for the idea?
I’m glad you found the blog!
hmmmm, sure!
