One question. What is one thing you did to develop your creativity early on? Josh Collesano answers: “Probably the best thing I did early on to develop my creativity was to intentionally surround myself with people who were more creative than me. Then I would work alongside them.”
My take: We mentioned earlier the importance of hanging around creativity. You become like those you hang around. And the easiest way to hang around the folks you want to be like, is to be a friend. Offer your assistance. Give of yourself without expecting anything in return.
If you want to be a good graphic designer, approach one. Tell them you want to learn what they do. Offer to help in any way you can. Offer your assistance unconditionally. Be easy to work with and they will keep you around. Soon enough you will be like them.
You won’t be a mirror copy. But that’s not your goal. You want to learn what they know. You want to develop the skills they have. They will stretch your mind and give you a great starting point to launch out into your own creativity.
About Community Pool:
These posts are all about drawing from the creative community. Every creative has a unique perspective. When we share in others’ perspectives our own creative lens gets wider. So I ask one simple question of creatives. I share it with you, then I unfold it.
