You will have a ton of bad ideas in your lifetime. The natural inclination will be to discard them. Don’t be so quick to throw them away, though. A bad idea is often just a good idea out of context.
Unless it’s an inherently bad idea like a glass hammer…it usually just needs some tweaking, proper context, or a different application.
Take airbags on a motorcycle. It’s not a great idea. I’m pretty sure that airbags for cars were thought of first…but let’s pretend that’s not the case.
If someone had this idea, soon enough a nay-sayer would show him how bad of an idea it was. But with a little tweaking…he could come up with airbags for cars. Bad ideas come before good ideas…and good ideas come before great ideas. The great idea is just a series of tweaks away from the bad idea.
