Stand in front of the Great Wall of China. It completely blocks the horizon. You can’t see beyond the bricks in your path. But if you could hop in a helicopter and elevate about 100 feet, the world would open up in front of you. You could see what was previously blocked. That’s what today’s Creative Draino is all about: elevation.
I’m convinced birds never experience creative blocks. And I don’t think it’s because they get to poop wherever they want. I think it has to do with their birds-eye perspective. Their elevation keeps them from focussing on the minutia that could clutter their mind. We can learn a few things from the birds.
So next time you’re experiencing a creative block, get some elevation. Climb a tree. Work from the rooftop of your building. Drive downtown and grab the elevator to the top floor of the tallest building.
As your feet leave the ground, you’ll find your creative block falls from you. You’ll leave it on the ground.
Be sure not to pick it back up when you get back down.

The only caution I might add is too make sure whatever you create doesn’t ONLY “look” good from a bird’s eye perspective. Once you get over the creative block and get your initial idea worked out, come back down and focus on the small things. Because people are not birds, and they don’t look at your product from up there.
However, this is a fantastic idea! When you can see more of what’s around you, broaden your sphere of influence, only creativity can come out of it!

Haha. I’m not sure what you’re talking about. I think you took what I intended to be an abstract exercise and applied it to something specific. 🙂 care to share what it is? 😀
