Creativity is art. Art is meant to be enjoyed. So enjoy your art. One of my favorite ways to enjoy creating is to incorporate inside jokes. These are secret elements that mean something special to me. Unless you’re in on the joke you wouldn’t notice it.
Enjoy one of my favorite Family Guy clips to illustrate this.
The key to these inside jokes is to add something seemingly insignificant to the art. It shouldn’t be obvious. But for your avid audience this can add a fun sense of mystery to your creativity. If you do it right, you can even make them feel a part of the joke…adding a whole new element to your creativity.
You’ve experienced this if you’ve ever had a friend write a song or paint a picture. Because you’re “in on it”, the creativity means more to you. By adding these little mysteries or inside jokes to your creativity, you open up the opportunity to let people in on it and give an extra voice to your work.

Good stuff. Not into the Family Guy, but I’ve always liked happy accidental-tree-painter-guy. Happy little trees.
Reminds me of “Kipper”, with a paintbrush.
