“I could kill you five different ways using this hat.”
I’m not sure how I ended up hanging out with this guy. But he proclaimed this while explaining his jujitsu skills. Then he demonstrated exactly how he would take me out with his hat. Impressive! As I slowly backed away…I couldn’t help but admire his creativity.
You might call that the MacGyver approach to creativity. MacGyver was a TV show in the late 80’s whose main character had a knack for getting out of sticky situations using whatever he found. Since he never carried a gun, Angus MacGyver relied on duct tape, Swiss Army knives and other household items to escape from peril.
You’re surrounded by the tools you need to be creative. Do you make use of them?
- Create a water fountain out of coffee creamers, stirrer straws and scissors.
- Create a bomb with an air pump and a watermelon.
- Create a symphony with water bottles and sugar packs.
Don’t take every day items for granted. That’s what I learned from Angus MacGyver.

That's a great idea! I recent saw a wavy designed "sock organizer" (a product I didn't even know existed), but in my ignorance of what it was I actually came up with an idea of what it could be used for…i thought that it was wall art and that we could just paint it a nice bright color…after laughing at me, everyone else finally saw what I did…AND THEY LOVED IT!
awesome! I love hearing stories where one thing is used even better as something else. 🙂

That is so true. Creativity can be spurred by so many things around us if we just make a conscious decision to notice them.
I love MacGyver. Still watch it on Netflix. The guy is pretty awesome!
For real. One of the most creative (fictional) guys out there. 🙂
