Today’s bit of creative draino takes the holistic approach to creativity. Creativity is not segregated. It’s all related. Writing is related to cooking. Songwriting is related to graphic design. Photography is related to dancing. Creativity spans disciplines.
So when you’re searching for creative inspiration, don’t be afraid to search outside your discipline. In fact you should seek out those sources of inspiration to fuel your own ideas.
Check out some of these resources others use to get inspired in their field:

- Cooking: Most Interesting Food on Flickr
- Graphic Design: Designspiration
- Architecture: Dezeen

I really love to cook (when i’m not doing lighting) It really gets my creative juices going. I go to http://simplyrecipes.com/ and look for the hardest recipe to challenge myself with. I of course use a bit of creativity to pull all the parts out that I don’t like. I once lite part of an Iron Chef type event. It was bliss.
I want to be on an iron chef type show! I just want to work with beef though. 🙂

Yes, when I’m in need of a creative infusion I go to places that are saturated in creativity. If I need to be ‘in the office’ then I go to flickr or vimeo and see what’s hot. If I’m able to get away, I head to a museum or a hip coffee shop in the village.
I really believe that creativity begets creativity.
Thanks for this Jonathan!
Definitely! Heading to creative environments is one of the easiest ways to overcome creative blocks. Nature is a very creative environment too 🙂
