Everyone knows what the troubled writer’s waste basket looks like. It’s overflowing with the writer’s crumpled up visions. Each page could have been the beginning of something amazing. But those pages will never see the light of day.
Crumpled paper comes from perfectionism. The writer wants his work to be perfect. But each opening sentence is filled with flaws. So he starts over, and over, and over again. He never reaches his perfection nirvana.
FYI, perfection nirvana doesn’t exist. You’ll never write that flawless first page. But that doesn’t mean you don’t start.
Write, paint, design. Start your masterpiece. It might look like the work of a two-year-old, but that doesn’t matter. The creation is there. Though it’s rough, there are diamonds in there.
Once you have your first draft of creativity, edit. Or start from scratch with this first draft as your guideline.
Books aren’t written perfectly. They are edited perfectly. Don’t be afraid to create because it isn’t perfect.
