My wife should probably hate me for this particular night. It was her engagement party with her Argentine family. The traditional party in Argentina consists of a late-night game show. The topic of the game show…her knowledge of me and all my favorite things. The consequence of a wrong answer is a terribly messy situation. Flour, eggs, and tea leaves would be dumped all over her. And it was…all night long…without relent.
Apparently, I was expected to give simple answers for her to guess. Unfortunately, I don’t really have favorite things.
- favorite color? I have favorite color combinations…no favorite color.
- favorite book? In what genre and in what mood?
- favorite food? Favorite movie? Nothing.
I think I only provided one real answer. And she payed dearly for my indecisive nature. Fortunately, she is a very forgiving woman. Love you, babe!
But what’s the deal with people having “favorites”? Is that necessary? I say, “No!”
I’m not going to limit myself to one flavor…one sound…one emotion.
When we play favorites we put ourselves in a box. Creatives can’t do that. Every experience is for us to enjoy. Every flavor…every sound…every emotion…we don’t just experience them, we channel them. Don’t let the world put you in a box. Don’t play favorites.

Finally! Seriously, thought I was the only one. Music, color, art, life, all too diverse for favorites. A heart double-thumbs-and-big-toes to that.
Haha! Nice! We need to start a movement. Details to come…

I like your post but as your marriage seasons you both will do much better at this game. Unpredictable people, however, are the ones who make the game more fun…as we can see in the pic.
I'll try to be unpredictable enough to be fun…but predictable enough to make caro feel secure. 🙂
