Children play. Thats almost all they do. It can be frustrating that children, who do nothing productive, have all the energy and adults have none. But there is a way to steal back some of that energy–and it doesn’t require hooking children unto an energy sucking torture device.
One of the biggest keys to children’s energy is play. Children’s idea of playing is nt the same as adult’s though. When adults play, they entertain themselves. When children play, they discover. They imagine worlds.
When a child plays football, he isn’t just trying to get a touchdown. He’s imagining a stadium of cheering fans and a bag of gold coins waiting for him at the goal line. He’s imagining.
When a a child plays in a field, she isn’t just running around. She’s looking in holes in the ground. She’s picking up pretty feathers. She’s discovering.
Children play. We have found the fountain of youth: imagination and discovery.
Do you play? Does everything you do come back to imagination and discovery? Or are you numbing your brain with entertainment?
Following this idea, I think sites like StumbleUpon are the playground for my generation. You can certainly discover many things, and be entertained. I know I’ve come across some fantastic inspiration while stumbling, and some practical (and not so practical) knowledge.

Are you on Pinterest? (If not…I’m sorry I just opened you up to a whole new way to waste time.) 😀
