If you do contract work like me, you know how hard it is to get inspired for some projects. With many different clients pulling you many different ways, it’s easy to get creative blocks when approaching certain projects. Do you relate?
Try this: Immerse yourself in your client’s work. Get in their shoes. Become intimate with the project.
- Working for a church ministry? Go to all the meetings and talk to all the members.
- Working for a paper company? Interview all the employees and make your own “The Office.”
- Photographing an engaged couple? Talk to them over a cup of coffee and see how they relate to each other.
When you’re able to experience the same passion as your client, it will help break through that creative block. You’ll better capture the emotion and energy of the project. You’ll be more proud of your work and you’ll be excited about it.
Excitement usually means better work. And better work means a happier you. Be happy. Create!
