Brilliant artists ask questions. More importantly, they ask, “why?” Why am I writing this song? Why am I designing this graphic? Why am I dancing?
Art without purpose may be fun to look at it. But it doesn’t make a lasting impact. Purpose is the fuel that transports creativity from “pretty” to “life changing”.
Sunsets and waterfalls don’t take our breath away simply because of their beauty. There is a deeper truth and purpose within each that can make us cry, even if we don’t quite “get it”. There is something that invades our hearts that makes their beauty memorable. It’s purpose.
A great creator knows the reason he creates. He knows what’s he’s trying to say, who he’s trying to reach and what he’s trying to accomplish.
If we aren’t creating with purpose, we’re just adding to the world’s pile of beauty. And the world is filled with beauty. But humanity is looking for purpose. Will your art contain purpose?
