I write this on the day after the presidential debate. I want to live by these verses, and I pray other believers would too.
For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. – Ephesians 6:12
People are not our enemies. Political candidates are not our enemies. When we make them the focus of our fight, the real enemy wins. We can’t afford to do that.
Even fools are thought wise when they keep silent; with their mouths shut, they seem intelligent. – Proberbs 17:28
More words need not be said. Love needs to be shown.
Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. – Matthew 6:34
We can’t be consumed with worry about what’s going to happen in this country. No matter how bad it might seem, Jesus tells us not to be anxious. Pretty clear instructions.
Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. – Colossians 3:2
And this is why. We aren’t called to worry about things on earth. We’re called to long for our home and to bring as many people with as we can.
Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone. – Romans 12:8
Finally, more argument or even debate won’t fix this world. We need to just do all that we can to live at peace and to bring peace into this world. Peace isn’t sexy. But it’s what we’re commanded to do.
Hey, where in San Antonio are you located? Liked the scriptures, thank goodness we have the word to fall back on.
Hey! We live near the Med Center. But my church is near the airport.
